Singing at Ahern today after school

Singers:

Please go to the Ahern middle school today to join in with the middle school singers in singing holiday music for the upcoming tree lighting ceremony.  This is an opportunity to sing, hang out, and talk to many of the middle school singers.  This collaboration is part of our unified effort to encourage students to keep singing in choir next year!!  This rehearsal will last around an hour or so.  Please come over!  I'll be there as well, hope to see you there.

Also side note, cut-off scores for districts are now posted and can be viewed at the website: www.semmea.org

Hope to see you this afternoon at the Ahern after school!

Acapella Singing

When you sing Acapella, it is so important that you sing confidently and feel the rhythmic pulse inside.

Here are some Pentatonix performances from the Sing Off to give you an idea.  I highly recommend watching all their performances (and performances from other great groups on that show as well: Afro Blue, Committed, Home Free, etc)

Five Hebrew Love Songs Video

Concert Choir Students,

Please watch this video of Eric Whitacre conducting a professional choir singing the Five Hebrew Love Songs

This is how the whole piece is supposed to sound when it is performed live.

Some Key Items Of Note:
- Listen to the pronunciation of the "K" syllable onsets in Kalla Kala -- that's what we need!
- Listen to the balance of the ladies on the first movement, beautiful
- Listen to the swells of the dynamics throughout -- this ebb and flow is crucial
- Listen to the tone colors created in Movement 4 Eyze Sheleg.. all parts flow in together

The soloist on Movement 4 Eyze Sheleg takes the solo a bit fast for my taste, whichever soprano sings that solo should take her time)
